Key Summary
As cybersecurity solutions expand into overseas markets, localization is becoming increasingly important. Security technology must account for local IT environments, regulations, and operational requirements. UMV Inc. has signed a technology cooperation MOU with Kazakhstan-based IT company AG TECH to jointly develop a Kazakhstan-specific “KZ-version” of its security software, marking a new step in the company’s expansion into the Central Asian market.
UMV Inc. and AG TECH Establish Technology Cooperation
UMV Inc., a specialist in AI-based security platforms, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Kazakhstan industrial IT company AG TECH on September 15 to establish technology cooperation between the two companies.
The agreement was signed during a Korea-Kazakhstan business exchange event attended by a visiting economic delegation from Kazakhstan. UMV Inc. participated in the event as an invited Korean IT and cybersecurity company.
Through the agreement, UMV Inc. and AG TECH plan to jointly develop dedicated security software for Kazakhstan. The solution will be called the “KZ-version.”

Why Security Solutions Require Localization
Deploying cybersecurity technology in another country involves more than translating a product’s interface.
IT infrastructure, security policies, technical standards, regulatory requirements, and operational environments can differ significantly between markets. Security solutions intended for international deployment must account for local conditions. These conditions can vary considerably between markets.
The KZ-version initiative is intended to address these requirements by combining UMV Inc.’s security technology with AG TECH’s understanding of Kazakhstan’s local IT environment.
This approach aims to create a security solution specifically adapted to Kazakhstan. It avoids simply applying an existing product without localization.

KZ-Version to Address Kazakhstan’s Local Environment and Requirements
The central objective of the MOU is the joint development of security software optimized for Kazakhstan’s local environment and specifications.
Working with a local technology company allows UMV Inc. to consider market-specific requirements during development. This reduces the need to address localization only after deployment.
AG TECH can provide knowledge of Kazakhstan’s technical and operational requirements. UMV Inc. can contribute its security technologies and development experience.
The resulting KZ-version is expected to provide a foundation for security technology better aligned with the needs of organizations operating within Kazakhstan.
Expanding Technology Cooperation in Central Asia
The agreement also represents another step in UMV Inc.’s efforts to expand its presence beyond the Korean cybersecurity market.
Kazakhstan serves as an important business and technology market in Central Asia, and cooperation with a local IT company can provide a foundation for understanding regional requirements and developing market-specific security technologies.
UMV Inc. CEO Bang Yoon-sung described the Korea-Kazakhstan business exchange event as a meaningful opportunity to begin technological cooperation as an invited Korean company.
He also stated that UMV Inc. intends to use close cooperation with the Kazakhstan government and local companies to strengthen its position in the country’s cybersecurity market.

From Technology Export to Localized Security Development
The UMV–AG TECH agreement highlights an approach to overseas expansion based on localization and technical cooperation.
Instead of simply exporting an existing security product, the KZ-version project is intended to adapt security technology to the requirements of the destination market through collaboration with a local technology partner.
For cybersecurity in particular, this approach can be important because infrastructure, regulations, operational practices, and security requirements vary between countries and organizations. The MOU therefore represents an initial framework for UMV Inc. and AG TECH to combine cybersecurity technology with local expertise as they pursue the development of a Kazakhstan-specific security solution.
